This class is
designed for kindergarteners and early primary school students who start
to learn Chinese as total beginners. This class will introduce students to
the Chinese language and its culture.
Students will learn to sing some popular
English children's songs bilingually (in English & Mandarin), learn the
official Chinese phonetic system (pinyin), learn to recognize simplified
Chinese characters, and communicate in simple conversations in Mandarin.
Children will play a lot of games in Chinese, too. Crafts related to
Chinese culture will also be included.

In this class the
instructor enriches it with music, singing and movement, Chinese culture,
Chinese legends (such as Mulan, Chinese Zodiac, Chang’e and Houyi…etc),
Chinese festivals, Chinese songs, finger plays, games, conversation
practice, animation for stroke orders for Chinese character writing, Funny
Chinese ...etc. The instructor translated a lot of famous English
children’s songs to Chinese. Children enjoy singing “Three fish”,
“Bubbles”, “Bumble Bees”, “Two Tigers”, "Head, Shoulders, Knees, and
Toes", "Ten Little Indians", "Mary Had a Little Lamb"…etc. in Chinese
Mandarin. Children also enjoy playing games such as “London Bridge”,
“Chinese Hullabaloo”, “Big Wind Blows”, “Bingo”…etc. in Chinese. The
instructor also makes worksheets with stroke orders, pinyin, English
meanings, and radicals to help students practice Chinese characters
writing.
